Help us host a great event!
We will be updating with more information as we have it, STAY TUNED!
The Stanley Moore Memorial Tournament is a catch and release, fly fishing only event that will run from March 1 through March 31, 2021.
Anglers will fish from shore, boats, kayaks or other watercraft by themselves, with guides, or in small groups. A cash prize of $500 will be awarded to the largest fish of each of these species: Bluegill, Snook, Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout. A $250 bonus prize will be awarded to those anglers catching the largest fish using a fly that they tied, or a fly rod that they built. For example, an angler catching the largest snook using a fly and a fly rod that they made will win $1,000.
Waters that anglers may fish include Collier, Lee, Charlotte and Hendry counties extending not more than 30 miles
Participants must be wounded or disabled U.S. military veterans currently enrolled in the Southwest Florida Project Healing Waters Program. Other qualified veterans may enroll in this program in order to qualify for the tournament. For enrollment information, call Ronnie Friedl at (239) 994-7562.
Guides are not eligible for cash prizes. However, guides of winning participants will be recognized with awards memorializing their achievements. Qualified guides must be active charter captains or other individuals having substantial current experience on the waters they will be fishing.
Submission of Entries
Submissions must include a picture of the fish along with an official tournament ruler showing the length of the fish, the fly rod and the fly used to catch the fish. Additionally, anglers must certify that the catch complied with the detailed rules of the tournament.
Leader Board and Awards
A Tournament Leader Board will be maintained on Social Media during the contest. An awards event will be held in April to honor tournament winners. Depending upon COVID, the event may be held in person, via Zoom, or by YouTube live broadcast.
